What’s In Our Living Soil?
Our living soil recipe is a balanced blend of peat moss, pumice, various composts, and a combination of organic and inorganic ingredients.
Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss
Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss, a natural soil conditioner from Canada’s peat bogs, is lightweight, organic, and ideal for acid-loving plants due to its low pH (3.0–4.5). It excels at retaining water (up to 20 times its weight), improving soil aeration, and enhancing nutrient retention for healthier plant growth.
Biodynamic Compost
Biodynamic compost enriches soil with diverse nutrients and beneficial microbes, promoting vigorous plant growth and resilience. Its unique herbal preparations and fermentation process enhance soil vitality, supporting biodynamic principles of ecological balance. Ideal for organic gardening, it improves soil structure, water retention, and nutrient availability for sustainable crop production.
Vermicompost
Living soil organic isn’t complete without vermicompost, a nutrient-dense organic fertilizer produced by earthworms (typically red wigglers) digesting organic matter like kitchen scraps, manure, or plant waste, resulting in dark, crumbly castings. It is rich in humus, enzymes, and beneficial microorganisms, with a neutral pH (6.0–7.0), making it a versatile natural fertilizer. Cannabis loves it! ♥️
Pumice
Pumice improves aeration and stimulates the growth of mycorrhizae. It supports healthy plant growth and microbial life. It improves drainage, retains moisture, and prevents soil compaction, all while remaining pH neutral and stable.
Rock Dusts / Minerals
Our living soil organic soil contains several crushed mineral sources. Our recipe includes; Basalt, Gypsum, Oyster Shell, and Glacial Rock Dust. Basalt and glacial rock dust is a rich source of various macro and micronutrients, including silica, iron, magnesium, calcium, and trace elements like copper and boron, slowly over time, providing a sustained supply for plants and soil microbes. Gypsum and Oyster Shell provide slow-release calcium and sulphur while balancing soil acidity.
Biochar (Charged)
Our biochar is charged by adding a specially prepared compost tea and select organic nutrients, letting it innoculate the charcoal with beneficial microbes and trapping nutrients for a slow release as needed by the cannabis plant. In essence, charged biochar acts as a sponge and a home for beneficial microbes, improving the overall health and productivity of the soil.
Organic Natural Fertilizers
Our organic natural fertilizers include Kelp Meal, Insect Frass, Fishbone Meal and Neem Meal. Rich in essential nutrients and compounds to protect the plants from deficiencies and all natural pest protection.
